Work + Education

Work Accommodations

As a individual with a disability, I require an aide. My aide will assist me in navigation of the work. For example, He or She will make sure that I am in the right line in Excel  and help me with the minute details. My aide would also offer me an eye break multiple times in a 3-hour work shift.

I also require a nurse to give me water, meds as needed, and tube feedings.

I am looking for a three hour work shift considering I have accommodations. Some volunteering opportunities that I can do would be writing letters, editing letters, proofreading and data entry. I can also do excel work.

Volunteer Experience

Red brick building with lots of windows

School to Work: Princeton Public Library

I had experience with word, excel and forms. I did data entry of customer comment cards and transferred business cards.

American Red Cross

I monitored the American Red Cross’ social media page. I wrote letters to volunteers wishing them a happy birthday and happy anniversary.

Man on a Zoom call

Recreation Department

I had to write a letter to the kids about the COVID 19 pandemic and created a background design  of the letter that had basketballs, baseballs and volleyballs.

Courses and Tutors Help

English 101

This was my first course I took at the College. This strengthened  my reading and writing skills.

Excel Spreadsheet

During this class I learned pivot tables/charts, how to make bar/pie/line charts and scatter plots. Also I used many formulas, conditional formatting and a lot of commands. I gained software experience during this class.

Accounting

This class involved categorizing numbers into bins. It was difficult, but I gained organizational skills.

Business communications

This was my very first class with open note tests on Cengage. I learned  to ask for notes. I treated the notes as “lifelines” pretending I was on Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

Business 101

This class was challenging in terms of structure. I used time management skills to move ahead and keep track of assignments. I learned that reading and doing assignments ahead of time works best for me.

My favorite class is Business Law

This class had a lot of PowerPoint presentations, reading lectures, case studies and open note tests.  The case studies were about Johnny Appleseed, committing all sorts of torts and crimes. I had to identify what torts or crimes he violated.

I had various tutors during my time at College: Kaley scribed  for English I, my mother for Excel and Accounting, Sophia for Business Communications, Business 101, Business Law, Business Management and PC Concepts and Applications. Finally, Noelya for Introduction to Internet and Technology, Customer Orientation, Access Database and Microsoft Word.
